Writing a brand marketing report
The basics of report writing:
- Needs a clear beginning, middle and end
- What you write needs to be logical
- The end needs to have a conclusion
Example of outline of a business report:
- Title page - student number, project looking at, project title
- Contents page - whats inside the report
- Abstract - mini introduction before your main introduction
- Introduction
- Mid section of the report - deals with the key issues under discussion
- Conclusion - conclusion what you found in the main report
- Recommendations from your report research and findings
- Bibliography
- Appendices - evidence that u looked at but couldn’t fit into the report, needs to tie back into the report
What does the content breakdown look like
- Title page example:
Institution title
Insert title of your piece
By
Insert your name
Ba (hons)
Insert date - month - year
Word count - 2700- 3300 max - only counting report
- Contents page
List of all the things you discuss on your report in chronological order
- Introduction
An over view of what you intend to discuss
Keep the convo concise
Discuss the key points of your report and your intended research
Give a flavour of what you anticipate your findings/research may extract
- Headers
2 topshop - this is the main header of the section
2.1 research findings - secondary heading
2.2 - sub-heading
- Conclusion
This is a summery of your research finds/report intentions
This must be to the point and concise - remember overall word count
- Recomdantions
These are your recomdations to industry from research gathered
To complete this part of the report consider
Why does your chosen brand have issues
What if anything are they doing to redress this
Where is the brand situated where do you feedlots the brand need to be
How can the brand intervene through its current situation, what can it do to change its fate, consider market condition, positioning in the market
- Bibliography
Add all your long referencing through the bibliography
- Appendices
Can be used to relate any information that connects to your essay context, but would not be put in the full essay itself
For example a sample of a survey you have constructed
A full quote which attaches to a segment of a quote from your full essay

What do the audience want to find out?
What sections does your report need?
How long should the report be?
When is the deadline?
What is the word count? - 3,000 words
Avoid bullet points
SWOT analysis - apply to your brand research

- Weaknesses - internal
- Opportunities - external
- Threats - external
PESTLE analysis - the world around the brand
- Technological - digital, customer experience, advertising
- Political
- Economic - living wages etc
- Social - age, sex,family
- Environmental - recycling
- Legal - content of the product/garment

- Promotion
